The American Grade Horse Registry was established to help ensure validated proof of ownership and establish a traceable lineage for breeding mares, stallions, and for all mixed breed horses and ponies. Now owners of "Grade" horses have a program designed exclusively to meet their unique ownership and breeding problems, and afford them the chance of having their horse listed in a registry created exclusively for them!

*The term "Grade" horse used within this site refers to any horse of unknown or unregistered parents, or of a purebred horse that is un-registerable with their bloodline association for various reasons.*

All equines need to have a way to be positively identified and now with the help of AGHR, even "Grade Horses" can have the benefits of securing Registration papers issued solely to them. This can aid in establishing ownership in cases of theft and divorce, and also to begin establishing a recorded breeding lineage. All horses, registered as purebreds or "Grades" are invited and accepted into the registry.

After submitting your application you will receive a registration certificate suitable for framing. The certificate will contain all the necessary information needed to positively identify your horse. Pictures of your horse, descriptions of all body markings, the color, any brands and scars will all be included on the papers. Your horse will be assigned its own registration number and have all information incorporated into a permanent database with AGHR.

Brands are great but only if they are registered and recognized in your county or state. Without positive proof of ownership your horse might become one of the many that become lost to slaughterhouses or in divorce disputes. Registration papers can help establish proof to ensure your horse's identity in such cases! Because so much valuable information is included on each registration certificate, it makes it easy to establish proof of ownership. If your horse is lost or stolen, AGHR can assist you in making local agencies aware and aid in posting Internet notice of its description, information, and photographs.

For a one-time registration fee of $25.00 you will receive the suitable for framing registration certificate, entry to the AGHR Database, your personalized registration number, access to download free change of ownership certificates (to use if you sell your horse, so the new owners will be able to apply to re-register with AGHR), free access to download a copy of your registration certificate (in case yours is lost or damaged)

The AGHR is an online registry and lists all information about our association within this website. In order to keep our registry fees to a minimum, we do not send out information in print form except by special request. If you are unable to print out any of our applications or forms, please send us a S.A.S.E. and we will be happy to mail them to you. Please carefully read all materials within this website in order to answer any questions you might have about our registry or about the application process. If after viewing the available material you need additional help, please email us for any additional information.
